Linda Sue
Moody
Dec 19, 1965 — Jan 6, 2023
Lumberton
Linda Sue Council Moody passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, peacefully at home in Lumberton, NC, at the age of 57, after battling Squamous Cell Carcinoma Lung Cancer for two years.
Linda was born December 19, 1965 in Lumberton, NC to parents John Kenneth Council and Anne Hayes. She was the youngest of 5 brothers: Johnny, Glenwood, Phil, Edward, and Joey, and 3 sisters: Patsy, Brenda, and Peggy. She graduated Littlefield High School in 1984. After graduation, she traveled around selling magazines. Her favorite place she visited was Texas. Linda would always say it was one of the hardest places to leave because of the people that lived there. She married Derell Moody June 21, 1986 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Linda was a jack-of-all-trades, primarily a homemaker, but she also worked for Baird's Animal Hospital. She even would help Derell with flooring.
Linda had two daughters, Stephanie and Hope. She was the greatest mother to her daughters and their best friend. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do for them. She loved everyone and always put others before herself, as she was always looking out for her family, and friends. She was the most selfless person who never complained. With her family, she enjoyed traveling to the beach, mountains, and even road trips across the country. She also loved preparing meals for others. You would never leave her home being hungry. Even if you weren't hungry, you still ate. The recipes all had secret ingredients so don't ask what made the food taste so great. She loved shopping, dancing, western movies, and making everyone laugh -- she had perfect teeth and a smile that brightened up a room. But, she was as stubborn as a mule and had a strong will. Linda had a special bond with animals all throughout her life. Her animals were also a part of her family. One of her hobbies was showing Tennessee Walking Horses. She rode for years both for pleasure and for showing.
Linda's most treasured place to visit was Albuquerque, New Mexico. She once said of Albuquerque, "The mountains are so pretty, I could cry" as she had tears in her eyes. She loved it so much that her goal was to move there prior to getting cancer. She even loved hot air balloons as that was a dream of hers to go up in one.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Batchelor; her father, John Kenneth Council; and her siblings, Johnny, Joey, and Patsy.
She is survived by her husband, Derell Moody of the home; her daughters, Stephanie Heine of Houston, TX and Hope Moody of Lumberton, NC; her granddaughter, Abigail Griffin of Houston, TX; her brothers, Glenwood Council and wife Martel, Phil Council and wife Cindy, all of Lumberton, NC, and Edward Council and wife Michelle of Fayetteville, NC; and her sisters, Brenda Council and Peggy Cunningham, both of Lumberton, NC. She was dearly loved and will be extremely missed.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.
