Mrs. Lillie Ellen Russell Windom, age 86, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at her home. She was born in Scotland County, NC on January 18, 1937 to the late David Alexander & Bessie Pruitt Russell.

Lillie, known to most as "Mama" or "Grandma", was one of life's most precious souls. It was her magnetic personality and her infectious smile that could light up a room and make everyone feel warm and welcomed.

A true life of the party, she kept everyone on their toes and always seemed to have an easy way of making them feel special. The positive energy that she exuded was contagious, and she did not hesitate to help those in need whenever she could.

There is no doubt in my mind that if you knew her, you loved her. The Lord was a source of true peace and joy in her life and she loved Him dearly with all her heart. She dedicated her life to Him and did her best to serve Him in everything she did throughout her life.

There was nothing more valuable to her than her family, and she did everything in her power to ensure that they were always taken care of and provided for. Having time with loved ones was one of her biggest passions, and she created lasting memories with them by spending time together.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who was always full of life and brought joy to those around her. Her presence will be forever missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Windom; her daughter, Joyce Wilcox; her son, Ruben Lee Windom; her grandson, Andrew Stephan Windom; and her brothers, Lester Russell, Joe Russell, James Russell, and Jerry Russell.

She is survived by her sons, Ricky Windom (Kimberly) and Robert "Rocky" Windom (Amanda); her daughters: Heather Sullivan (Michael), Ruthy Elaine Walters, Tammy Ratz (Ronald), and Helen Williams; her grandchildren: John Grant, Hannah Grant, Jonathan Walters (Jessica), Matthew Walters (Courtney), April Shelley (Hunter), Abbigail Windom (Cody), Robert Windom, Jr., Ricky Windom, Jr., Melissa Danielle Currier, James Ratz, Jessica Ratz, Kenneth Wayne Russell, Kenneth D. Rogers, Jr., Roger D. Rogers, and Peggy Rogers; numerous great-grandchildren; her sisters, Vera Grooms and Mary Scott; and 9 nieces and 4 nephews.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 2:00-2:45 PM at Eastwood Holiness Church, 1926 McPhail Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Pastor Mark Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
