Obituary

Levie Allen Fowler, Jr., age 79, of Proctorville, NC passed away on November 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by love and family. A devoted husband, father, veteran, public servant, and man of deep faith, he lived a life defined by service, humility, and compassion.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Levie A. Fowler, Sr. and Darlene Edge Fowler; his wife Ann Carolyn Fowler; and his daughter Mary Jo Ann Maynard.

He is survived by: his children, David Allen Fowler (Lily), Glenda Ann Little (Deryl), and William (Billy Joe) Pridgen; his sisters, Faye Williams, Shelby Lee (Tommy), Debbie Douglas(Steve) and Eleanor Grainger; and his grandchildren, Brooke Maynard, Lexie Little, Logan Little, Marissa Fowler, Carly Fowler, Jenkins Pridgen, and Daniel Pridgen.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting on September 29, 1965. Over the course of a distinguished 20-year career, he rose to the rank of First Sergeant, earning the respect of those he led through his leadership, integrity, and unwavering dedication. He retired from active duty on November 1, 1985.

On April 4, 1993, he married the love of his life, Ann Carolyn Pridgen. For more than 30 years, their marriage was a source of joy, strength, and partnership. Her passing on December 24, 2023, left a mark on his heart and a deep void in his life.

Committed to education and lifelong learning, he earned two master's degrees, a master's degree in Administration, and a master's degree in Early Childhood Development, and was a licensed educator for the state of North Carolina. Recognized for his academic excellence, he was named to the Dean's List and graduated magna cum laude.

After his military career, he continued to serve his community through his work with the United States Postal Service, from which he later retired.

His love for service extended beyond his professions. He was honored to serve as the Mayor of Proctorville, North Carolina, where he worked tirelessly to support and uplift the community he cherished. His commitment to Proctorville and its people was a true reflection of his heart.

A faithful member of Proctorville Baptist Church, he loved his church deeply and found strength, purpose, and fellowship within its walls. His church family, along with his community, held a special place in his life.

He will be remembered for his steadfast love he showed to his family, friends, church, and community. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and, in the example, he set through a lifetime of service, faith, and dedication.

"He was a man who cared for others before himself, who found joy in simple days on the golf course, and who ended every goodbye with a warm 'Merry Christmas,' reminding us that joy belongs in every season. He is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed."
