Leroy Locklear, age 74, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at his home. He was born in Robeson County on April 21, 1941 to the late Roosevelt "Velt" and Grace Oxendine Locklear.

He served honorably in the US Marines for 30 years, after which he was employed by Carolina Freight Service for 27 years and by the Cumberland County School System for 5 years.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Locklear; his brother, James Earl Locklear; and one son, Gregory Locklear.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Amveline Hunt Locklear of the home; his children: Vernon Locklear of Raeford, Patrick Locklear of Fayetteville, Denise Locklear of St. Pauls, Bradley W. Oxendine of Maryland, and Michael A. Oxendine of New York; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his step-mother, Cleo Locklear; and three step-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will take place on Friday, November 27, 2015, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Pastor Clyde Lowery and Rev. Roosevelt Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Robeson Memorial Park.
