Lena Marie
Green Baxley
Feb 3, 1957 — Nov 30, 2025
Lumberton
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lena Marie Green Baxley "Hunt," lovingly known as Marie or "Rie," who went home on November 30th, 2025. Born on February 3rd, 1957, she was the daughter of Herman Green Jr. and Melba Green.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Green Jr. and Melba Green; the love of her life, Levon Hunt; and two precious angel grandbabies.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter Laura (Jamie) and her granddaughter Haley, all of the home. She also leaves behind her bonus daughters Tonya (Shana), Laura Jean, Jess Gamez (Justin), and Marlena; and her bonus sons Jeff and Robert Hunt.
Marie was blessed with nine grandchildren: Haley, Brandon, Matt, Damien, Faith, Austin, Dustin, Elijah, and Silas. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family who loved her deeply. Among those she held near to her heart was her extended Jokers Mizfitz Car Club family: Brooks, Joan, Rachel, and Conor.
In her younger years, Marie worked in various plants where she formed lifelong friendships — bonds that grew into family. It was also during this time that she met her soulmate, Levon. Together for almost 35 years, their relationship was a shining example of a once-in-a-lifetime love — the kind of love others admired and hoped to find.
Marie was the Mom, Aunt, Nana, cousin, and friend who was always there. She opened her heart and home to everyone she loved. There was always food on the stove, a seat at her table, or a place to lay your head. She offered safety, comfort, and acceptance without needing to say a word. Her home was a refuge, and her love was a shelter.
Her chosen family in the Jokers Mizfitz Car Club knew her simply as "Nana." She cherished going to car shows, events, and gatherings, where she met new people who quickly became friends. Marie had a way of making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and loved.
Most of all, she will be remembered for the warm hugs she gave — the kind that stayed with you — and for always saying "I love you" before she left. Her love was steady, her spirit was gentle, and her kindness was limitless.
As Marie always said, "I love you a bushel, a peck, and a hug around the neck."
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 6, 2025 at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton. The visitation will following the services.
