Lay Ruth Quick Strickland, of Laurinburg, NC, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, after a brief illness at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC. Ms. Strickland was born in Scotland County, NC on April 19, 1945 to the late Charlie and Annie Dell Quick. She was 76 years old. Lay Ruth was the proud mother of five children. Ruth's greatest love was her family. All her children were proud to call her "Mom".

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Strickland, and her son, Freddy Robert Strickland; two sisters, Carolyn Ledford and Mary Catherine Usher; and a brother, Charles Edward Quick. Ruth was a retired certified nursing assistant and attended Kingdom Hall in Laurinburg, NC.

Lay Ruth is survived by four daughters: Natasha Strickland of Wagram, NC, Lisa Seals (James) of Garner, NC, Robin Stockner (Scott) of Asheboro, NC, and Sandra Clark of Hasty, NC; four sisters: Linda Crosby and Susan Lewis, both of Hamlet, NC, Constalene Robinson of Madison, NC, and Beatrice Porter of Greensboro, NC; three brothers: Malcolm Quick of Sneads Grove, NC, Eugene Quick of Hasty, NC and R. W. Quick of Laurinburg, NC; and eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will plan a memorial service which will be held at a later time.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."  Rev. 21:4
