Mr. Lawrence Jones, age 87, of Lumberton, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on December 3, 1925 to the late John S. Jones and Nancy Willis Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Nelda Atkinson Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Joseph "Joe" Jones and wife, Marsha, of Proctorville and Bobby Jones of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Jennifer Jones Matthews and husband, Lance of Charlotte, Guy Jones and wife Stephanie of Proctorville, Kevin Jones of Carthage, Casey Jones of De Leon, TX, Gabrielle Jones of Dickinson, ND, and Brett Hendren of Proctorville; a great-grandson, Bree Crawford Matthews, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2:00PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church in Lumberton with Rev. Frankie Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church fellowship hall.
