La Rue Hunt, age 92, of Lumberton, and formerly of Fairmont, NC, transitioned on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Rivers Edge Assisted Living and Memory Care surrounded by her family. She was born June 17, 1931 in Robeson County to the late Lula Mae and the late Olin Hunt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Hunt; a daughter, Miriam Young; a granddaughter, Gerta Hunt; five sisters, Donna Bell Lockley, Irene Oxendine, Elease Callahan, Betty Carol Hunt, Marie Schmale; three brothers: Olin Hunt, Jr, Franklin Hunt, and James Hunt.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter (grand), Mironda Muhammad (Harvey) of Tampa, FL; one beloved sister, Corless Sweat of Fairmont, NC; a granddaughter, Lanita Clark of Lumberton, NC; six great-grandchildren: Darrin Stephens (Angela) of Tampa, FL, Darius Lesane (Stephanie), Michaela Nash (Veronica) of Jacksonville, NC, John Hunt, Katelynn Hunt and Malcolm Hunt of Fairmont, NC; five great-great grandchildren: Darrin, Jayson, and Alaia of Tampa, FL, Kai of Jacksonville, NC and Elijah Hunt of Fairmont, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was a life-long member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. In her earlier years, she was a seamstress at Mills Textile Plant of Fairmont, NC and she was always known to work on a farm. She enjoyed planting and tending to her own garden. In the summers, she could always be found gathering and preserving vegetables and preserving jelly.

A time of visitation will be held at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, NC on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM.

Burial will follow in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery, 198 Pleasant View Road, Fairmont, NC.
