Kobe Jamarcus "Monk" Sampson, age 17, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Born on May 21, 2009 in Robeson County, NC, Kobe brought love, laughter, and cherished memories to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Kobe enjoyed life and especially loved being outdoors. He spent much of his time riding four-wheelers and fishing, two of his favorite pastimes. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, he also enjoyed cheering on his team. Above all, Kobe treasured time with his family. Whether sharing an outdoor adventure, watching football, fishing, or simply being together, he created memories that will remain precious to those who loved him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Kevin Sampson and Cassaundra Sampson; his brother, Dereon Sampson; his paternal grandparents, Bruce Sampson and Lori Ninko; and his maternal grandparents, Doc Hunt and Felicia Morton.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Jonathon and Michaela Sampson and Mathew Hunt, as well as many cousins, friends, and extended family who loved him dearly.

Kobe was preceded in death by his aunt, Lisa Sium; his uncle, Dock Lee Hunt II; his maternal great-grandfather, Maryland Chance Jr.; his great-grandmother, Catherine Chance; and his paternal great-grandparents, Aggie Nora Hunt and Roger Ray Hunt.

Though Kobe's life was far too brief, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain with his family forever. His adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, and joy in being surrounded by family and friends will never be forgotten.

A time of visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 6:00-9:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 1:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mickey Lowrey and Ronnie Locklear officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.
