Knox Wendell "K.W." Britt, 74, of Holden Beach, NC passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lumberton on September 20, 1941 to the late Knox and Josephine Bass Britt. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Gene Britt, and granddaughter, Shannon. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Edith Herring Britt; his children: Johnny R. Britt and wife Judy of Monroe, Angie F. Melvin and husband Tim of Chadbourn, NC and Rodney D. Britt of Holden Beach; his grandchildren: Summer, Hope, Andrea, Tabatha, Jaylan, Jeremey, and Jonathan; and one great-grandchild, Dawson Dale Jones. He is also survived by his siblings: Carolyn Elliott of Dunn, Joe Britt of Holden Beachb George Britt and wife Renee of Rockingham, and Wayne Britt and wife Lynda of Boiling Springs. K.W. was the previous owner of K & D Auto Sales of Whiteville, NC and Britt's Grill of Holden Beach, NC. He is a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a lifetime member of St. David's Lodge No. 72 of Darlington, SC since 1974. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a member of the Omar Temple of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was also a previous member of the Army Reserve. A time of visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Senior Pastor Donald Conway officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith of Lumberton, NC.
