Howard Kenneth "Kenny" Smith, age 72, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at his home. He was born October 3, 1945 in Robeson County to the late Howard Kadell Smith and the late Ola Marie Musselwhite Smith. He was a veteran of the US Army and was later employed with M.J. Soffe, Inc. as a sewing machine mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Kadell Smith; a sister, Edith Byrd; and a granddaughter, Katie Marie Dent.

Kenny is survived by his wife JoAnn Russ Smith of the home; three daughters: Ann Marie Cox (Ricky) of Lumberton, Lisa Smith Jones (Kevin) of Lumberton, and Torie Dent (William) of Fairmont; seven grandchildren: Jessica Smith, Matthew Cox, Blake Jones, Savannah Jones, Jeremy Dent, Billy Dent, and William Dent; one great-grandchild, Logan Cox; one brother, Roy Lee Stroud (Inez) of Mullins, SC; and one sister, Pat West of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, 2018, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 1:00 PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Rev. David McLellan and Rev. Jerry Locklear officiating. Burial will follow at the church's cemetery.
