Kenney Ray Chavis, age 71, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at Morrison Manor Facility in Laurinburg, NC. He was born April 27, 1951 in Robeson County, NC to the late Mabel Chavis and the late John David Carter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosie Lee Godwin.

Kenny served 4 years in the US Marines and 2 years in the Navy. He was known as a jack of all trades. He also served as a nursing assistant. He loved talking to people and spending time with his family.

Kenney is survived by two brothers, Larry Chavis (Dana) of Lumber Bridge, NC and Charles "Stick" Jones of Rowland, NC; one sister, Helen Sinclair of Rowland, NC; two special nephews, Michael Hunt (Norma Jane) and Ronald Hunt, both of Lumberton, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A time of visitation will he held Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 1:00-2:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont, NC. Funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00PM. Burial will follow in Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
