Kenneth Melvin Russ, passed away September 5, 2015 at James River Convalescent Center. He was a native of Lumberton, NC and a resident of Newport News, VA for fifty years. He was a sheet metal worker and inspector for Newport News Shipbuilding for forty four and a half years and retired on March 31, 2006. He was of Lutheran faith. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ruby Russ; and wife of fifty years, Virginia Russ. Survivors include his daughter, Emily Maddox and husband, Scott; son, Michael Russ and wife, Crystal; sister, Lynn Russ Price; and grandchild, Chris Baxter. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, September 10, at 3:00 p.m. at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, NC, officiated by Reverend Vann Floyd.
