Kenneth Ewen Rice, age 82, of Lumberton, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on January 25, 1931 to the late Roger Rice and the late Margaret Kinlaw Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Julius Rice. He is survived by his wife, Margaret P. Rice, of the home; daughter, Deborah Rice of Leyden, MA; sons, Kenneth W. Rice and wife, Mary Ann of Hartsville, SC, Joseph Phillip Rice of Mequon, WI and David Gregory Rice and wife, Susan of Budapest, Hungary; step-son, George G. Thompson of Lumberton; step-daughter, Ann Thompson of Lumberton; five grandchildren, Rowland Van Winkle Rice, Katherine Rice, Hannah Rice, Genny Rice and Katie Margaret Branch and the mother of his children, Iris Leigh Rice of Hartsville, SC. A time of visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. of Lumberton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Sandy Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
