Mr. Kenneth Julius "Kenny" Powell, age 84, of Lumberton, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, surrounded by his children. Kenny, as he was known by most, spent his life as a top-notch auto body repairman and painter. He worked at Jon-San Chevrolet, Jerry Johnson Chevrolet, Freeman Motor Company, and he ran his own body shop, P and B Body Shop, for many years. Kenny was passionate about many things, but his love for gamecock roosters and bass fishing with his many friends through the Dixie Bass Masters Fishing Club were at the top of his list.

Kenny was born on December 9, 1941 to the late Willie Junior & Mary Francis Tuton Powell in Columbus County, NC. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sheryle Haven Jones, and his wife, Mary Levonde Powell.

He is survived by his children: Wendy P. Hodge of Evergreen, NC, and Dean Powell (Terry), Kathy Meares, Kim Meares, and Tom Powell (Sherri), all of Lumberton, NC; his grandchildren: Jenna, TJ, Travis, Judith, Julianna, Chance, and Holli; and two great-grandchildren, Carlee and Lainey Kate.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.
