Mr. Kelmer Hunt, age 91, of Fairmont, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 6, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was born in Robeson County on May 4, 1922 to the late Budd L. and Callie Hunt. He was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and church treasurer for 52 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kelmer was preceded in death by his wife, Ola of 71 years; two sisters, Kever Mae Hunt and Docia Lee Oxendine; and one brother, Sam Hunt. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Larry Hunt and wife Sue of Laurinburg, NC and Eugene Hunt of Fairmont, NC and friend, Hannah Jacobs of Lumberton, NC; one daughter, Brenda H. Deese and husband Barry of Fairmont, NC; three grandchildren, Justin Hunt, Lisa Dollar, and Suzy Wilkie; four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Hammonds; one brother, Sanford Hunt both of Fairmont, NC; a special niece, Bessie Hunt; and a great host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 7:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel. Burial will be on Monday, February 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 PM prior to the service at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
