It is with great sadness that the family of Kathy L. Garner announces her passing. Kathy Lee Garner, age 65, of Carthage, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC. Kathy was born in Norfolk, VA on December 12, 1958 to the late James Mayes and Ida Rose Walters Mayes.

Kathy will forever be remembered and dearly missed by her family and friends. Although our hearts are broken, we know that instead of having sadness that God has called her home, instead she would want us to celebrate the life she lived, to remember her stories and hold on to our memories we made with her that she left behind. Celebrate my life, remember me with love and joy. Let gratitude fill your heart, thankful for the time we had. Gone, yet not apart. If we measured life in moments, not in months or years, I lived a hundred lifetimes, loved by all who hold me dear.

I hope you'll find your smile and generously, speak my name, share stories and my heart, your love for life unchanged. Celebrate the life I lived, I will be watching from above, I am always with you, sending you my light and love.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brother, Donald Wayne Mayes and sister, Wanda Sue Hall.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Lacy; sons: Matthew Mayes and wife Brittany, Michael Mayes (Kim, Hagan), Zack Garner and wife Mandy, and Aaron Garner and wife Jennifer; grandchildren: Noah Mayes, Colton Mayes, Emily Mayes, Andrew Garner, Jacob Garner, Abigail Garner, Lawson Garner, Elijah Garner, Katelyn Garner, Natalie Garner, Avery Garner, Bryson Garner, and Asher Garner; sisters: Ann Baker and husband John and Mary Jane Mayes; brothers: James Howard Mayes, Jr. and wife Lynn and Charles Henry Mayes and wife Pam and is loved by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at New Hollywood Cemetery, Hollywood Drive in Lumberton, NC, with Pastor Wade Hall officiating.
