Judy Lee
Whritenour
Nov 9, 1944 — Nov 28, 2023
Lumberton
In loving memory of Judy, a devoted wife of 59 years to her surviving husband, Ray, and a cherished mother to Laura (Mike), Donna (Ken), PJ (Stephen), and Eric (Brandon). Judy's legacy is further enriched by her grandchildren Payton, Alec, Philip, and William.
In addition to her immediate family, Judy is survived by her brothers, Mark and Bruce (Dana). She is preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and William.
Born in New York, Judy began her professional journey with the FBI before moving to Lumberton, North Carolina, with her husband and young children. A proud resident of Lumberton, she made an indelible mark on the community.
After a successful career as a realtor, Judy shifted her focus to raising her beloved children as a dedicated mother. Later, she embarked on a new chapter, returning to school to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She spent over 25 years working in the psychiatry unit at UNC Health Southeastern, where her compassion touched the lives of many.
Judy's vibrant spirit extended beyond her career and family. She was an active member of her church, Saint Francis de Sales, and found comfort in the support of its community, even in her final days at Wesley Pines Retirement Community, where fellow members visited her.
Her laughter, as expansive as her heart, echoed through the lives of those around her. Judy had a zest for life, enjoying hobbies such as playing bridge, traveling, and bowling. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association, a cause close to Judy's heart.
May Judy's laughter and love continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. The family will host a private ceremony in Judy's memory celebrating her life. Your understanding and support during this difficult time are greatly appreciated.
