Juanita McDowell, formerly of Gertrude Street, Fairmont, died February 17th at Linkhaw Place in Lumberton. Mrs. McDowell was born July 19, 1915 to Neil Arch and Etta Lewis McLellan, who preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Leggett and George McDowell; her brothers, Ira, Bruce and Danny McLellan and her sister, Helen Rogers.

She is survived by her sons, R. Wayne (Phylis) Leggett of Fairmont, NC and Thomas C. (Robin) McDowell of Almagordo, NM; her daughters Margaret Beth McDowell of the home and Vicki (Steve) Lassiter of Burlington, NC. Her sister Margaret and beloved brother in law, Wallace Parnell of Fairmont, NC and sisters in law, Nina McLellan of Columbia, SC and Ann Barfield of Lake View, SC.

Mrs. McDowell is survived by her grandchildren: Gina Leggett of Florence, SC; Melissa (Mike) Stogner of Jamestown, NC; Dwayne (Linda) Leggett of Red Springs, NC; Joshua Hayes of Mineral Wells, TX; George McDowell of the home; Emily Lassiter of Chapel Hill, NC and John Lassiter of Boone, NC. She is survived by her great granddaughters, Taylor Stogner of Jamestown, NC and Paige Leggett of Red Springs, NC. Mrs. McDowell is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
