Mr. Joseph Henry Cox, age 97, of Lumberton, NC, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was born in Robeson County, NC on March 2, 1926 to the late Joseph Rossie Cox, Sr. and the late Vera Anderson Cox. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and later worked for the Department of Transportation.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Grady Cox, James Cox, and Lacy Cox; and his sisters: Katie Shephard, Ruth Rozier, Alma Durden, and Grace Sides.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cox; his son, Kenneth Cox and wife Marie; his brother, Rossie Cox, Jr.; his granddaughters, Ashley Quinn and Amanda Oxendine and her husband Jessie; his great-grandchildren: Savannah, James, Austin, Abbie, and Jessa; and his great-great-grandchildren: Blakelyn Rain, William, Audrey, Hilda Kate, Cassidee, and Kamry.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Hyde Park Baptist Church, 301 N. Roberts Avenue in Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 N. Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
