Mr. Joseph Chavis, age 76, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, N.C. He was born on May 20, 1943 in Robeson County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Chavis and Annie Hester Chavis; two sisters, Shirley Chavis Holden and Annie Lois Hunt; and a brother, Timmy Chavis.

He is survived by two brothers, Jimmy Chavis and Ricky Chavis, both of Fairmont; four sisters: Helen Hunt of Lumberton, Ann Hunt of Rowland, and Peggy Eddings and Tammy Turner, both of Fairmont; a special niece and nephew, Ashley Chavis and Benjamin Eddings, Jr., both of Fairmont; and a special caregiver, his niece, Sharon Hunt.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 7:00PM-9:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at 2:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont. Burial will follow in Harvest Church of the Assemblies of God Cemetery.
