Joseph Carroll Bollinger, Sr., age 88, of Rowland, NC passed away on August 8, 2017 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center Hospice House in Lumberton.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at New Life Community Church (previously Raynham Indian Full Gospel Church) in Raynham, NC.  Burial will follow in Harvest Assembly Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

Mr. Bollinger was born on December 7, 1928 in Emmitsburg, MD.  He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Allen and Emma Bollinger, and his wife, Rev. Phyllis Jean Bollinger.

Mr. Bollinger is survived by a son, Joseph C. Bollinger, Jr. and his wife, Alicia Hunt Bollinger of Rowland; three grandchildren, Adam, Scott and wife, Heather, and Tyler; one great-grandchild, Ryleigh; and a host of family and friends.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1951-1959.  He served as a missionary with his wife, Rev. Phyllis J. Bollinger in NC from 1960-1966.  In April 1966 she became pastor of Raynham Indian Full Gospel Church and he served as assistant pastor for 33 years.  He was also councilman of the town of Raynham for 30 years.
