John Bradley Thompson, 77, of Lumberton, NC went to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

John graduated from Lumberton High School and attended Wingate College before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. After four years serving our country through Vietnam, John returned to join the family business, Thompson Electric Company, where he began installing security systems. John later joined BB&T in 1986 until retirement in 1999.

John was involved in various community and philanthropic activities. He was a proud Mason at St. Albans Lodge #114 in Lumberton and Kiwanis of Lumberton. He dedicated 13 years as a City Councilman of Lumberton and held other various positions on committees and boards. John was a member and served on the N.C. Burglar Alarm Systems Board.

John was a problem solver and jack-of-all-trades. If you knew John, you knew he was always working on a project. He "worked" until the end piddling with his hands and fixing what he was working on in his mind. He enjoyed visiting the Lumberton airport, fly-ins, going on cruises, and checking on the farm. John will be remembered for his wit, humor, service to his community, and the love he showed to his friends and family.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Pat; his two children, Brad (Dawn) and Holly; four grandchildren: Bradley Russ, Patrick, Simon, and Anna Emery; his brother, Les (Jane); his mother-in-law, Elease Hodge; his brother-in law, James Hodge; his sister-in-law, Tamatha Zavodsky (Dennis); and five nephews: Leslie Thompson, Sam Thompson (Heather), Casey Hodge, and Kyle and Raider Zavodsky. He is also survived by his loving fur baby, BJ Thompson, who was always by his side.

John is preceded in death by his son, Samuel; his parents, Bradley O. and Essie Johnson Thompson; stepmother, Ruth Nance Thompson, and father in law, James Hodge.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday October 30, 2022,  from 4:00-6:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5 ^th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Monday October 31, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Rev. James Hodge officiating. Masonic Memorial Rites will be accorded by St. Albans Lodge #114 A.F. and A.M. Honor Guard will hold part of the service. Family will also receive friends after the service.
