John W. Potter, age 71, of Lumberton, NC died on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC.  He was born in Columbus County, NC on March 24, 1944 to the late Ab and Nettie Ward.  He worked for many years as a self-employed electrician.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Emanuel Potter and a brother, Frank Ward.

John is survived by a daughter, Teresa Ann Smith (Gregory) of Corning, NY; four grandchildren, Grant Smith, Sterling Smith, Brooke Kearns (Kenny), and Ryan Hawtof; a sister-in-law, Mary Ward;  two nieces, Nicole Quick (Brent) and Desiree Donaldson

and a sister, Reba Rouanzion of Burlington.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery with Rev. Billy Watford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to be made in his name to Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, 104 Carolina Avenue, Lumberton, NC 28358.
