John Standing Pait III, 59, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. While his passing came sooner than his family expected, they take comfort in knowing he is now at peace.

Known for his quiet nature and love of the outdoors, John found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He had a lifelong passion for fishing and spent countless hours on the water, where he found peace and contentment. Whether casting a line or simply enjoying nature, those were the moments he treasured most.

John was a hardworking man throughout his life. He was formerly employed by Kayser-Roth in Lumberton, NC, and later worked alongside his family at Frank's Furniture, a longtime Lumberton business that has proudly served the community for many years.

Above all, John was a devoted father who loved his children dearly. He is survived by his son, John Morgan Pait of Lumberton, NC, and his daughter, Hailey Victoria Pait of Fort Collins, Colorado.

He is also survived by his loving mother, Jean Morrison Pait of Lumberton, NC; his sister, Terrell Pait Cole and her husband, Steve, of Lumberton, NC; his brothers, David M. Pait and his wife, Allison, of Fair Play, SC, Cameron Pait and his wife, Karrie, of Apex, NC, and Travis Pait and his wife, Ashley, of Lumberton, NC; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

John will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, and the courage and determination he displayed throughout his illness. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created with family and friends will remain a lasting source of comfort.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered prayers, love, and support during John's illness and in the days following his passing.

May we remember John whenever the sun rises over the water, a fish breaks the surface, or a quiet moment in nature reminds us of the peace he found there. Though he has cast his final line, the memories he leaves behind will remain with us always.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.
