Mr. John Wesley Mew, Jr, age 72 of Fairmont, NC passed away Friday, August 4, 2017.

Mr. Mew was born March 20, 1945 in Robeson County to the late John Wesley Mew Sr. and Janie Hester Mew.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Carol Mew; four sisters, Norma White, Clydie Cain, Alice Musselwhite and Vergie Mae Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyne B. Mew of the home; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Thomas Monroe Bird of Indianapolis, IN.; two sister-in-law's, Jo Bird Conway (Donald) of Monroe, NC and Marion Hester of Greensboro, NC, and many special cousins.

Mr. Mew was a member of the Fairmont Masonic Lodge, past Master Mason, Fairmont Shriner's Club, past Principal at Fairmont High School, Greene County High School, and Headmaster at Avalon Academy in Dillon, SC.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 3:00pm at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont with Rev. Ronald Hughes officiating.

Visitation will be following the service at the funeral home.
