John Sasser McKee III, 81, of Lumberton NC died in his home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. He was born October 11, 1936 in Morganton, NC to the late Dr. and Mrs. John Sasser McKee, Jr.  He was a graduate of Virginia Episcopal School and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired in 2000 as the Area Director of Southeastern Regional Mental Health Center.

He is survived by his wife, Clyde, and five children: Kent (Paula), Anne, Melanie, John IV (Elizabeth), and Shannon (Roger). He had six grandchildren: Brendan, John V, Ross, Lacey, Mary Slade and Sydney, and a sister, Betsy McKee Collett (Webster), niece Beth Collett Thomas and nephew Zach Collett.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6PM-8PM at Floyd Mortuary. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church at 2PM with a reception immediately following in the church parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Lumberton Christian Care Center, or the United Way of Robeson County.
