Mr. John Lafayette Thompson, 78, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Gurley, SC on February 2, 1944 to the late William & Georgia Thompson.

He was a proud veteran, serving for two years in the U.S. Navy Reserves and eighteen years in the U.S. Army. While serving in the military, he traveled the world and met his wife of 37 years, Teresa Thompson, and fathered three sons: Daniel, Paul, and Eric. He ultimately retired from the Army as a Sergeant First Class (SFC).

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa, and his son, Eric.

He is survived by his sons, Daniel Sensenbach (Kassy) of Gatlinburg, TN and Paul Thompson (Lara Percifield) of Atlanta, GA; and his sisters, Grace Anderson of Lumberton, NC and Cleo Casey of Murrells Inlet, SC.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5 ^th Street in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Mike Bowen officiating.
