John Walter (J.W.) Stone, age 79, of Lumberton, NC died on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on August 13, 1938 to the late Forest Stone and the late Snow Ford Stone.  He was a veteran in the United States Army.  He was a trade brick mason

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Berry Stone; sisters, Juanita Rising and Helen Brookman; and grandson, Jonathan Rhodes.

Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Betty Bass of the home; son, Billy Bass (Lynn) of Lumberton; daughters, Angie Sealey (Tony) of Lumberton, Melanie Britt (Mickey) of Lumberton, Susan Rhodes (Ted) of Elm City, and Charlene Smith (Douglas); brother, Leo Stone (Betty Jean) of Lumberton; sister, Opal Fipps of Lumberton; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery with Rev. Lacy Norris officiating.
