John Ross "J.R." Powers, age 32, of Lumberton, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on June 2, 1992.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John D. Powers, Sr.

J.R. was a smart, kind, mannerly young man who always went to the extra mile for those he loved.  He enjoyed working alongside his father and brother at Powers Surveying in Lumberton.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.  He was very artistic and loved using his skills to draw and paint.

J.R. is survived by his parents, John D Powers, Jr. and Christy Stephenson (T.J), all of Lumberton; his siblings, Christopher Michael Powers (Molly) of Lumberton, T.J. Stephenson of Lumberton and Jessica M. Powers of Wilmington; his paternal grandmother, Margaret H. Powers, of Lumberton; his maternal grandparents, Michael Locker and Maxine Locker, of Fayetteville; his girlfriend, Chelsea Marie Strickland of Lumberton; his niece and nephew, Paige Powers and Weston Powers; his aunts and uncles, Bobby Powers (Glenda) of Charlotte, Nicole Cannon (Scott) of Fayetteville, Dwayne Locker (Angela) of Willow Springs and Terry Locker of Bolivia as well as several cousins, friends and extended family members who loved him dearly.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 6:00-8:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Pastor Donnie Paschall officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
