John Charles Huggins, Sr., age 81, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County, NC on October 21, 1933 to the late John B. and Tessie Townsend Huggins. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the owner/operator of Huggins Motors and Real Estate in Lumberton. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lynberry Huggins, Jack Huggins, James Huggins, and Bobby Huggins. Mr. Huggins is survived by his wife, Linda Huggins of the home; sons, John Charles Huggins, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Staunton, VA and Bryan Huggins and wife, Jennifer of Cary; a daughter, Harriet Wilson and husband, David of Cary; four grandchildren, Hannah Wilson, Claire Wilson, Matthew Huggins, and Megan Moskowitz; and two great-grandchildren, Allie Moskowitz and John Moskowitz. A time of visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the funeral service at First Baptist Church of Lumberton. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Lumberton with Dr. David Elks officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery.
