John Francis Gniadek, 81, beloved father and grandfather, of Lumberton died peacefully on Wednesday, May 31st after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Uxbridge, MA on December 7th, 1935 to the late John Patrick and Mary Rose Gniadek.  He was a former United State Marine and long-time Converse employee before retiring in 2000.  Mr Gniadek was also an active member of St Francis De Sales Catholic Church, served on the Parish Council, and was a former Grand Knight of the local order of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Carol Paulus Gniadek.

Mr. Gniadek is survived by two sons, John Gniadek and his wife Yong of Chesapeake, VA and Jeff Gniadek and wife Marsha of Hickory, NC; two daughters, Teresa Venters and Karen Gniadek both of Lumberton; seven grandchildren, Johnny and wife Sarah, Jennifer, Josh, Ally, Molly, Jim, and Andy; and two great-grandchildren, Kai and Cole.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St Francis De Sales Church with burial following at Floyd Memory Gardens.

Visitation, will be on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
