Mr. Joe Alex Council, age 57, of Lumberton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born on February 13, 1959 to the late Ken Council and the late Ann Hayes Council.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hunt Council; his step-mother, Mae Council; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Lynn Council; and one brother, Johnny Council.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his son, Bryan Council of Roxboro, NC; his daughter, Kayla Council Hunt (Chris) of Lumberton; three brothers, Phil Council (Lucinda) and Glenwood Council (Martel), all of Lumberton and Edward Council (Michelle) of Fayetteville; four sisters, Peggy Council Cunningham, Linda Moody (Darryl), Brenda Council and Patsy Smith, all of Lumberton and two grandchildren, Evan Keith Council and Chenoa Faye Hunt.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Pentecostal Faith of God Church with Rev. Russell Kinlaw, Sr. and Pastor Tom Britt officiating. Burial will follow at Robeson Memorial Park in Lumberton.
