Retired US Army Joe Calvin Arnette, 80, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Southeastern Hospice House with his beloved wife of sixty years at his side. He was born February 24, 1937 to the late Hart & Easter Arnette.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Chad Allen Arnette.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife, Edith Arnette; four children: Joe Allen Arnette (Debra), Timothy Arnette (Diane), Lesley Taylor (Chris), and David Arnette; his grandchildren: David Arnette II, Joni Britt (Jeremy), Lindsay Arnette, Danielle Hunt (Jason), Douglas Campen, Ashley Arnette, and Alyson Taylor; and nine great-grandchildren.

Joe was a life-long resident of Lumberton, spending a majority of his life enjoying the great outdoors. He loved History and learning and he passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church.

A time of visitation will take place on Friday, June 2, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Blackburn officiating.
