JoAnn Cummings Furmage, age 60, departed this life, Thursday, May 31, 2012 to join her many loved ones in her heavenly home. She was born on March 18, 1952 to the late Reverend Simeon Foster Cummings and Maude Locklear Cummings.

JoAnn leaves a legacy of helping people with her knowledge of alternative health care. She was always available to give advice and her encouragement. She 0wned and operated Native Herbs in Pembroke from 1989-2005. JoAnn was generous to her patients/customers and her greatest joy was to help a person to appreciate their role in personal health. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lee Furmage, Jr.

Mrs. Furmage is survived by one son, Jamie Travis Furmage and wife Sonia and two grandsons, Sawyer and Jacob Lee Furmage of Milwaukee, WI; her mother, Maude Locklear Cummings; brothers, Larry Cummings of Lumberton, S. Dufrene Cummings and wife Peggy of Pembroke, McDuffie Cummings and wife Delora of Pembroke, Michael Cummings of Ocean Isle, Nell R. Cummings of Leland, Gayle Phillips and husband Roger of Charlotte, Robin G. Cummings and wife Rebecca of Pinehurst, and Kelly R. Cummings and wife Oneida of Pembroke.

The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Cummings Family ??Faith? Cemetery, Union Chapel Road in Pembroke.
