Jo Ann Shultz, 77, of Lumberton, died on Saturday, January 24th in UNC Southeastern regional hospital.

She is preceded in death by her father, Horace Branch; her mother; Viola Britt, her son, Brian Turner, and a grandchild, Davis Turner.

She is survived by her son, Robert Turner (Dee Dee) of St. Pauls and her grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Turner, both of St. Pauls.

Jo Ann enjoyed a rich and varied life journey, beginning during her high school years, serving as a drum majorette. She also served as an EMT for the Lumberton Rescue Squad, where she was an original member, and one of only two women at that time. She could also be seen in various positions in the Robeson County courthouse, including a position in the tax office. Jo Ann spent most of her professional career as a social worker, both in Robeson County, as well as Newberry South Carolina. She also went on a number of mission trips with her home church in Newberry. Jo Ann will truly be loved and missed by all that knew her.
