Ms. Jo Ann Hunt, 73, of 499 NC 41 Highway South, Lumberton, NC departed this life for her eternal home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at UNC Health Southeastern.

Jo Ann was a 1970 graduate of Fairgrove High School and Pembroke State University, Class of 1973. She was an educator for many years with the Public Schools of Robeson County.

Jo Ann was born in Robeson County on August 25, 1952, the daughter of the late Charles Edward Hunt and Clarice Mandy Jacobs Hunt. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rev. L. B. and Lena Jacobs and her paternal grandparents, Waltz and Mary Hunt, her uncles, Calvin L. Jacobs and Avery Jacobs, her aunt Marie Jacobs, one brother, Charles B. Hunt and one sister, Amelia Hunt.

She is survived by one son, David Dwayne Hunt (Maranda) of Hebron, Ohio; and one daughter, Candace Marie Hunt of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Lynn Dwight Hunt of Fairmont, NC and Karl Anthony Hunt of Lumberton, NC; three sisters, Sarah Lynn Hunt of Little River, SC, Sharon Hunt of Lumberton and Karon Joseph (John) of Zebulon, NC; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn McCaffrey (Brandon), Destini Green, David Blake Hunt (Miranda), Darian Green, Kaedon Green, Kaleb Hunt, Jonah Hunt, and Eli Hunt; three great-grandchildren, Damon, Delilah and Kora Hunt; one aunt, Martha Jacobs of Hope Mills, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026 at Reedy Branch Baptist Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. A time of visitation will take place following the service in the Life Center.
