Jimmy Porter, age 79, of Lumberton passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton. He was born January 2, 1947 in Robeson County to the late Evan and Lucy Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Porter; a son, Jeffery Porter; his brothers, Neil C., L.C. and Charlie Ray Hunt, Osroe Ivey, Valdolson Strickland; his sister, Elsie Ransom; a great grandson, Mack Armstrong.

He leaves behind four daughters, Paula Oxendine, Theresa Hunt (Derick) of Lumberton, NC and Christiana Claiborne (Robert), of Fountain, NC and Caitlyn Young of Fairmont, NC; five grandchildren, Derick Ray Hunt, Jr., Kiaya Bullard (Paul), Micalea Claiborne, Skylar Claiborne, Jeffrey Claiborne; three great grandchildren, Grayson Bullard, Brinxleigh Bullard, and Colton McKeel; four brothers, Robert Porter of Lumberton, NC Mitchell Ivey, Vernon Ivey, and Jackie Strickland, all of Fairmont, NC; two sisters, Genice "Gen" Hunt of Pembroke, NC and Delaine Strickland of Fairmont, NC; a special cousin, Leon Oxendine and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 2:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont. The funeral will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery, 198, Pleasant View Church Road, Fairmont.
