Jessie Dawson Nye, age 91, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Highsmith-Rainey Hospital of Fayetteville. She was born in Onslow County on August 19, 1923, to the late Frank Cyrus and Edna Deal Dawson. She was formerly employed as a financial advisor for Cooperative Savings and Loan Company. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis B. Nye, four brothers, Colin Dawson, Buddy Dawson, Warren Dawson, and Dayton Dawson, and two sisters, Nina Rowland and Daisy. She is survived by two daughters: Gwendolyn Nye-Foster and husband, Richard, of Alachua, FL and Melanie Nye of Gainesville, FL; three sisters: Charlotte Lane of Fayetteville, Elma Pecheles of Greenville, NC, and Violet Poole of Raleigh; four grandchildren: David Webster, Cheryl Webster, Charlene Cherry, and Victoria Medford; and five great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will take place on Thursday, January 1, 2015, from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the service at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating. Burial will follow at Proctorville Cemetery.
