Jessie "Goat" Jones, age 86, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Lumberton, NC on June 7, 1929 to the late William and Ollie Clark Jones. He previously worked in construction as a dry wall hanger for Precision Wall. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vonnie Mae Lowery Jones; a son Jessie Jones, Jr.; a grandchild, Denise Jones Hunt; great-grandchildren, Justin Hunt and Sequoia Hunt; and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Jones is survived by his sons, Chancy Lowery and Dennis Lowery both of Lumberton; sisters, Elaine "Judy" Gordon (Marty) of Rockingham, Wanda Jones of Lumberton, Melissa Jones (Walter "Hector") of Lumberton; brothers, William Jones, Jr. and Eddie Arnold Jones both of Lumberton; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. "Buck" David Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Family Cemetery.
