Jessie Byrd Atkinson Herring, age 86, of 3121 Centerville Church Rd. Fairmont passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Centerville Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ed Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont. She was born January 13, 1927 in Robeson County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Robert Atkinson and Lena Potter Atkinson; her husband, Johnnie Harold Herring; a son, Ronald Harold Herring. She is survived by a son, Philip Herring of the home; a daughter, Carol Ann Herring-McDaniel and husband Allen of Fairmont; one sister, Polly Jones of Lumberton; one granddaughter, Tiffiny Herring-Hammonds and husband Gary; one great grandchild, Noah Hammonds; several nieces and nephews.
