Jessie Allen \\"J.A.\\" Britt, 60, of Lumberton, NC died Thursday, January 11, 2009 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He was born on March 15, 1949 to James Ira Britt and Alma Parker Britt in Robeson County, NC. Mr. Britt served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked in the maintenance department at Dupont. For thirty six years he served with and a former chief of the Northwoods Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Ira Brit; and two brother-in-laws, Edward Prevatte and Bennie Porter.

Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Yvonne \\"Vonnie\\" Britt of the home; his mother, Alma P. Britt from Orrum, NC; one son, Allen Britt and wife Kim of St. Pauls, NC; one daughter, Dawn Britt of Lumberton, NC; two brothers, James Wade Britt and wife, Melba of Lumberton, NC and Richard Britt and wife, Penny of Orrum, NC; six sisters, Brenda Prevatte of West Columbus, SC, Betty Rogers and husband, Larry of Orrum, NC, Lib Hardin and husband, Mickey of Fairmont, NC, Rita Cox and husband, Ronnie of Lumberton, NC, Sylvia Prevatte and husband, Stanley of Lumberton,NC and Connie Pittman and husband, Paul of Orrum, NC.

Services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Godwin Heights Baptist Church with the Reverend David Holloway and Mrs. Leslie Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow the services at Broad Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Orrum, NC.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
