Mr. Jerry Dean Rice, 76, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.

He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 1, 1946 to the late Tilman & Ruby Rice.

Jerry never met a stranger in all his life. He loved to spend his free time at church, fishing, and spending time with his beloved grandson, Jaxson. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Flaudia Christine Dudney; and two brothers, Bobby Rice and Marion Rice.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Rice of the home; three sons: James Thomas Rice and Terrence Dean Rice (Hailey), all of Lumberton, NC, and Michael Rice (Margie) of Clearwater, FL; his grandsons, Jaxson Dean Rice and Lucas Avery Dudley; a brother, Tim Rice (Joyce) of Lumberton, NC; and a sister, Sandra Strickland of Mocksville, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Sandhill Baptist Church, 2726 Pope's Crossing Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. John Bruce officiating.

Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
