Gerald Martin "Jerry" Lawson, 78, of Calabash, NC, died Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 15, 1943. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and later became an officer, serving on the Charlotte Police Dept.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Roscoe Lawson and Elizabeth M. Lawson; his wife, Frances F. Lawson; and four sisters: Faye Foley, Emily R. Edwards, Dale Nay, and Debra O'Tuel.

He is survived by a special great-nephew, Trey Elam and wife Jaime; two sisters, Lynda Prevatte and Gayle L. Wilkes; his stepson, Stepson Joey Fitzgerald and wife Michelle; his stepdaughter, Renee F. Freeman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Lawson Family Cemetery, 1212 S. Creek Road, Orrum, NC with Rev. Carter McNeese officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
