Jeannette Allen
Freeman
Dec 2, 1948 — Feb 13, 2021
Orrum
Rosalynn Jeannette Allen Freeman, of Orrum, NC, born December 2, 1948 to Jack and Annie Ruth Allen, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at UNC Health-Southeastern in Lumberton, NC surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Annie Ruth Allen; her husband, Charles Oliver Freeman; her son-in-law, David Wayne Hill; and her sister, Eleanor Rae Mueller.
She is survived by her children: Lisa Freeman Hill of the home and Charles Terry Freeman and wife Rena of Orrum, NC; a sister, Jackie Allen Freeman of Lumberton, NC; two sisters-in-love, Sylvia Stone and Kathy Freeman, both of Lumberton, NC; a brother-in-love, Dale Mueller of College Station, TX; five grandchildren: Stephen Hill, Justin Nance, Jesica Nance, Gracie Freeman, and Charley Freeman; three great-grandchildren: Brayden, Rylee, and Aleeah Jolly; along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Freeman, or as some lovingly know her, "The Warden", worked for almost 28 years at Robeson Community College where she ended her career as the Assistant Director of the BLET program. Mrs. Freeman was instrumental in helping to establish the program at the college and loved every minute of it.
While she loved her work in the BLET program, the titles she held that were more precious to her were those of: wife, mama, "Gan-Gan", grandma, "Re-Re", "Granny J", sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was her greatest life's blessing.
Mrs. Freeman was a member of Hog Swamp Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was active in the choir, WMU, and served in many other capacities in the church over the years. She loved Jesus and her church family and was ready to be there when the doors were open. She never met a stranger and was often one of the first to talk to anyone that came through the door. If she didn't already know you, she was going to find out who you were and who your "people" were so she could make a connection with you. She will be missed but leaves a lasting legacy in her children and grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends at the home of Terry and Rena Freeman, 4017 Wire Grass Road in Orrum, NC.
A time of visitation will take place prior to the service on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Hog Swamp Baptist Church, 3689 Wire Grass Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Tony Ward officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hog Swamp Baptist Church WMU for "special projects".
