Jeannette Council Edwards, age 89, of Lumberton, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Florence, SC. She was born June 3, 1928 in Robeson County and was formerly employed as a secretary for Scarborough's Building Supply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, B.C. and Emma Walters Council; four brothers; four sisters; her husband, J.D. Edwards; and one son, Bobby Edwards.

She is survived by two sons: Jimmy Edwards and Phil Edwards, both of the home; six grandchildren: Eric Edwards and wife Nicole, Melissa Edwards and husband Jamie, Phillip Edwards, Jr. and wife Heather, Clint Edwards and wife Alease, Chris Edwards and wife Victoria, Paige Bodiford and husband Jimmy, and Michael Hardee and wife Denise; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Alden Council of Sanford, FL; and one sister, Dorothy Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC.

A time of visitation will take place prior to the service on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM in the Chapel with Dr. Norman Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
