Jean Perry Kersey, 90, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 17, 2016. She was born in Robeson County on August 3, 1926 to the late Chester & Margaret Perry.
She leaves memories of a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. But most of all she leaves memories of someone who cared for others. Her compassion for people made her a blessing to anyone who may have known her. She was a true lady whose presence could light up a room. Nothing was more heartwarming than to see Jean smiling at you.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin H. Kersey; her son, John S. Little; and one daughter, Peggy Collins.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Little Leggett and husband Gerald of Lumberton; two sisters, Frances Dawson of Clarkton and Mertice Dawson of Dublin; four grandchildren: Susan Collins, Margaret Simmons, Tammy Leggett, and James "Butch" Freeman.
A time of visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery with Rev. David Hawes and Rev. Ed Wilcox officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
