Mr. J. D. Burchett, age 78, of Lumberton, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Greenbrier Assisted Living in Fairmont, NC.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 13, 1943 to the late William Dennis Burchett and the late Lois Wilson Burchett.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Houk Burchett and a step-brother, Michael Ray McMillan.

Mr. Burchett is survived by his sister, Bea Tyner of Lumberton; three nephews, James Wilkins (Linda) of Lumberton, Michael Kevin McMillan (Sheena) of St. Pauls and Ronald Dwayne McMillan of Lumberton; a niece, Amber Lashalle McMillan of Lumberton and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Miranda Stephens, Alivia McMillan, Emma McMillan, Mia McMillan, Ada McMillan, Nora McMillan, Dante Scott, Dakota Scott and Akiah Scott.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 11:00AM at Floyd Memory Gardens with Rev. Tim Tyner officiating.
