Mr. James Cranford "J.C." Fisher, age 79, of Lumberton, passed away in Lumberton on Saturday, January 31, 2015. He was born in Sampson County on November 28, 1935 to the late Shallie Clem Fisher and the late Elsie Lee Wise Fisher. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation and was also an active church member, serving as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hulen Fisher and Colon Fisher, and one sister, Doris McCroskey.

Mr. Fisher is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Dale Lee Fisher of the home; his daughter, Regina Fisher Valenta and husband, Kevin, of Lumberton; a grandson, Adam Fisher Valenta; a sister, Margaret Hardison of Autryville, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Johnson and Rev. Gary Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
