Jasper Darrell "J.R." Chappell, age 79, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born in Toronto, Canada on September 11, 1945 to the late Jasper Chappell and the late Nora Kyle Chappell.  J.R. was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War and retiring after 21 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary A. Chappell, and a sister, Sherill Chappell Powell.

He is survived by his companion, Pamela Walters, and her two children, Travis and Tara Walters, all of Lumberton; his aunt, Carol Davis and her son, Walt Davis, both of Statesville, NC; two special family members, Hans Geiger (Teresa) of Texas and Rex Chappell of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 2:00-3:30PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 4:00PM at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
